Job Title: Commercial Underwriter

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team at Legal & General Group. As a Commercial Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing and managing risk for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review customer applications to identify risk factors and assess whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications.
  • Agree to offer the customer a policy, decide on what terms to offer, or ask for more information from either the customer or their doctor.
  • Participate in or lead projects that enhance the underwriting process and improve our systems and commercial viability.
  • Ensure any requests for further information are appropriate, accurate, and commensurate with the risk being assessed.
  • Identify complaints and ensure they are acted upon quickly, with root causes highlighted to ensure compliance with complaints response time limits.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the commitments made about the level of service during the marketing and sales processes to ensure the area is capable of meeting those expectations.
Requirements:
  • Thorough understanding of the risk factors for mortality and morbidity, as well as financial underwriting.
  • Understanding of legislation and regulatory requirements would be preferable.
