About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team as a Clinical Lead for the Liaison Crisis Pathway. This is a substantive opportunity to work in a newly-developed and exciting part-time role, providing Consultant Clinical Leadership to the Regional North West London Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical advice and support to the daily triage, assessment of patients, MDT zoning meetings, discharge planning, and other regular clinical team meetings in MHCAS.
  • Provide consultant clinical advice, cover, and support to the Light house MHEC as needed.
  • Ensure in partnership with the team manager that all referrals are triaged daily and responded to in a timely way.
  • Assessment of new patients and clinical supervision of assessments carried out by other team members as required.
  • Ensure community connectivity for patients where relevant as part of discharge planning.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with other teams and consultants along the pathway.
  • Review complex needs patients to ensure appropriate care packages are put in place.
  • Mental Health Act-related work as indicated.
  • Ensure that patients' physical health needs are addressed.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation in the team, including clear documentation related to mental capacity assessments and physical health assessments, discharge summaries.
  • Ensure safe handover across interfaces when patients are discharged.
  • Develop working relationships with relevant local voluntary sector services that can support and promote recovery where possible, preventing readmissions.
  • Follow the cross-cover protocol that has been agreed with another team or colleague, ensuring appropriate consultant cover is in place during absences.
