About the Role:
TDM Recruitment is seeking a skilled Assistant Buyer to join our procurement team in Banbury. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials for residential construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the procurement of building materials, products, and services for residential construction projects.
- Support the senior buyer in preparing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and prices to achieve the best value for the company.
- Monitor inventory levels and liaise with site managers to ensure materials are available as needed for ongoing projects.
- Assist in the evaluation of supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards and company requirements.
- Prepare reports and provide data analysis on procurement activities, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other departments to support the smooth execution of projects.
Requirements:
- Awareness of Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, and Health & Safety Legislation.
- IT literate – including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Experience in the procurement and purchase of materials, sub-contractor, and plant (preferable, not essential).
- Some experience in design packages (preferable, not essential).
- Previous experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within the construction or housing sector.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude, with a passion for developing a career in procurement.
- A relevant qualification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field (essential).
