Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior IT Architect to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our Group Architecture Practice, you will play a crucial role in supporting a wide range of architectural activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solution Design - Produce simple solution designs and adopt basic patterns independently or support complex designs working alongside experienced and specialist architects.
  • Assure Solutions - Support assurance processes that ensure solutions meet our business needs and minimize risk. Evaluate simple solutions against pre-defined assessment criteria.
  • Accurate Documentation and Record Keeping - Produce architecture artefacts, e.g. high-level designs, key decision documents. Ensure Enterprise Architecture tooling records are updated and accurate.
  • Solutions Delivery - Collaborate with project teams and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to support delivery. Ensure assurance of lower-level designs.
  • Provide Clarity on Architecture Processes and Services - Offer guidance to individuals or projects on what architecture is, how to access our services, and when we should be engaged.
  • Improving the Discipline - Support improvement initiatives that mature the architecture discipline, e.g. supporting tooling improvements, or optimizing processes.
  • Ensure Business and System Changes Follow Best Practices - Ensure business and system changes follow best business practices and the correct change process and methodology, including the IT Change Management Standard.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Appropriate qualifications in technical change or technology-related subjects are desirable, but not essential. Alternatively, an academic background in technical subjects is desirable.
  • An understanding of architecture and how it adds value.
  • Knowledge in technical subjects (e.g. data, systems, software, engineering) is a plus.
  • Understanding of technology trends.
  • A curiosity for architecture.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with stakeholders, adapting style and content as necessary to land messages.
  • Working in or with technical teams (e.g. engineering, software, security, change management).
  • Building successful working relationships and team dynamics in a matrix environment.
  • Practical, common-sense delivery of successful, collaborative solutions.
  • Balancing day-to-day delivery with improving processes and work.
