About This Role

At Civil Service Jobs, we're seeking a highly skilled Chief Regulatory Economist to join our team. As a key member of our Office for Research and Economics, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the analytical framework that underpins our most important decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support policy teams in producing robust and high-quality analysis to enable good decision-making.
  • Quality-assure key analytical work, including impact assessments and proposals to the board.
  • Design and embed a programme of activities to ensure adherence to the recommendations of the Macpherson report on model quality assurance.
  • Design and deliver key training programmes to support the development of our analytical capability.
  • Lead a team of around 8 staff and act as part of the leadership team of the Office for Research and Economics.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
  • High-quality assurance of key analytical decisions.
  • Development of guidance, policies, and procedures.
  • Publication and ongoing review of our regulatory stances.
  • Management responsibility for a team of around 8 people.
Person Specification

We're looking for someone with a strong foundation in economic analysis, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work flexibly across multiple projects. You should be adept at synthesising complex data into insights for senior leaders and external audiences, while also building strong working relationships both within and outside our organisation.
