About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our CAMHS Rapid Response Team in Reading. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health assessments and short-term interventions to young people experiencing mental health crises.

Main Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive psychosocial crisis assessments for young people who have presented in crisis.
  • Offer short-term intervention to stabilise the crisis, including follow-up appointments and multi-agency consultation-liaison.
  • Identify ongoing care plan needs for young people and their families, ensuring they are referred to appropriate services.
  • Maintain and develop key relationships with professionals external to the area of service, as well as patients and their families.
  • Take clinical responsibility for patient care and treatment, working autonomously and effectively in a team.

Requirements

  • Recognised and relevant qualification as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Social Worker, or Qualified Systemic Family Therapist.
  • Registration with the NMC or HCPC or other recognised professional body.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments of mental health needs, developing care plans, and offering appropriate support based on psychological formulation of presenting difficulties.
  • Experience of working with service users with high-risk presentations and undertaking risk assessment and risk management plans.
