Job Title: Research Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technician to join our team at Lifelancer. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for providing molecular biology and insectary support to research projects focused on functional genetics in mosquitoes, particularly in the study of insecticide resistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records of methods, sample details, and results.
  • Provide technical support to research teams, ensuring efficient and effective service.
  • Perform general plasmid cloning and screening procedures.
  • Conduct basic bioinformatic analysis and plasmid and primer design.
  • Inject mosquito embryos with DNA constructs.
  • Assist in designing guide RNAs for CRISPR-based genome editing.
  • Contribute to the rearing of uninfected mosquito colonies in the insectaries.
  • Collate and assess data using Excel, Prism, and other appropriate software.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Biological Science or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Good knowledge of general principles of molecular biology.
  • Hands-on experience of DNA cloning and general molecular biology techniques.
  • Relevant experience of working within a research laboratory and implementing standard laboratory protocols.
  • Ability to adapt biological techniques or protocols.
  • Experience conducting scientific experiments.
