About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Gastroenterology Department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our existing team of nine Consultants in Gastroenterology to deliver excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Perform all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, including colonoscopy and gastroscopy.
  • Contribute to the development of our Gastroenterology and Hepatology services, including audit and clinical governance.
  • Provide training and teaching to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide out-of-hours cover as required.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant with:

MRCP or equivalent and entry on the Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or within six months of CCT.Recent experience in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, including audit and clinical governance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.About Us
