Airworthiness Transformation Specialist

This role is an excellent opportunity to join the Airworthiness & Product Integrity Digital Engineering Capability team within BAE Systems' Air Business. The team operates across all Air products, providing product safety, environmental sustainability, and security engineering resources to all programmes across the business.

As an Airworthiness Transformation Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering tasks in a timely, consistent, and professional manner. Your main objectives include establishing and delivering engineering activities aligned with the business's Digital Engineering transformation, using systems integration and systems engineering techniques while engaging with Engineering teams and subject matter experts as appropriate. You will also exploit learning across Air and other BAE Systems Units, as well as the broader industry, including regulators, customers, and suppliers.

You will be required to coordinate activities with other leads on Digital Engineering transformation, assist and advise on the development of toolset options and toolset implementations, which support new ways of working. You will work alongside Engineering Teams and Regulatory Authorities to develop an optimum certification approach for new and novel technologies and ways of working. Additionally, you will identify proposals for changes to MRP Part 21 to ensure design organisation approvals reflect the Digital Engineering transformation.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or HNC/HND in Airworthiness or Future Capability, initial airworthiness, certification, requirements engineering (DEFSTAN), model-based systems engineering, and related techniques, processes, and tools (ISO 15288). They will also exhibit positive behaviour, integrity, adaptability, courage, collaboration, and creativity. Benefits of this role include a competitive pension scheme, employee share plans, extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing, and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans, and shopping discounts. You may also be eligible for an annual incentive. As part of the Airworthiness and Product Integrity Digital Engineering Capability team, you will work collaboratively and supportively to deliver independent assurance activities associated with airworthiness, product safety, product environmental sustainability, and product security. This specific role will be within the Initial Airworthiness domain, working in areas such as the development of future 6th generation fighter technology, exploitation of technological advancements in autonomy, artificial intelligence, and product integrity data linking into the digital engineering environment, and engagement with international working groups in the development of legislation, regulation, and standards associated with digital certification, autonomy, AI, and product safety.
