About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Planning Lawyer to join our national Future Energy, Planning & Environment team at Associate or Senior Associate level.

This role can be based in any of our UK offices and is offered on a fully flexible working basis to accommodate part or full-time hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside a team of specialist lawyers, advising on planning issues, applications and appeals across a variety of sectors, specialising in transport and renewable energy projects.
  • Advise on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
  • Act in relation to the consenting aspects of offshore wind projects.
  • Run your own files and take early responsibility for delivery of transactions.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider team across our other office locations.
  • Take an active involvement in business development, nurturing existing client relationships as well as new relationships.
  • Support in the exciting expansion plans for the DCO practice.
  • Participate in the team's Planning Know-How sessions, which are delivered on a rota basis.
Requirements
  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) with between NQ-6 year's PQE (or equivalent) in a similar legal setting.
  • Specific experience in Development Consent Orders and/or advising on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of working with and advising public sector and private sector clients, particularly local authorities, and an understanding of local authority governance would be desirable.
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Commercially aware with some exposure to business development, with the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
  • Contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.
