Job Title: Engineering Shift Supervisor

Our St. Merryn facility in Merthyr Tydfil combines beef and lamb processing and packing facilities, offering a range of beef and lamb products from retail-ready cuts to branded packaged meat.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to manage a team of Multiskilled Engineers on a shift rotation, ensuring continuous production and improving efficiencies safely through effective implementation of preventative maintenance schedules and timely response to breakdown repairs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the application of continuous improvement methodologies to enhance the operational function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure supervision and safe operating procedures for engineers and visiting contractors
  • Maintain Health & Safety rules and regulations
  • Identify potential hazards/risks to the Health & Safety Manager/responsible person upon discovery
  • Ensure all PPM schedules are completed and developed using predictive and diagnostic maintenance techniques
  • Initiate improvement plans in a pragmatic and proactive manner
  • Ensure the Engineering department achieves its budget targets through efficient use of materials and replacement parts
  • Follow the correct accounting/authorisation process when ordering replacement parts
  • Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the factory, including the engineering office and workshop
  • Effectively manage the Shift Engineers, planning work, addressing performance issues, T/A, and implementation of training plans
  • Manage day-to-day issues and ensure any assistance from OEMs is escalated
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all CPM production equipment and assist across all site engineering issues when required
Requirements
  • Multi-skilled apprenticeship
  • Electrical/Mechanical qualification, HNC
  • FMCG experience
  • PC and PLC competent
  • Significant trouble-shooting and fault-finding diagnostics and resolution experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate team skills with a positive attitude and professional approach
