Freight Forwarding Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our team at Freight Personnel. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate movement of multimodal freight, maintaining timely communication with customers and suppliers, and delivering exceptional levels of customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of sea, air, and trailer import and export shipments
  • Monitor cargo movements and keep customers updated
  • Liaise with customers, carriers, and customs brokers
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
  • Interact with customers, airlines, hauliers, and overseas partners to ensure the completion of each shipment in accordance with the individual customer's requirements
  • Create and maintain accurate records of cargo movements
  • Work closely as part of a small team to deliver excellent customer service
  • Prepare customs declarations in line with guidelines and submit to HMRC in a timely manner
  • Organise, coordinate, and follow up international freight transportation via all modes
  • Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with all suppliers
  • Ensure accurate and timely responses to all email communication
  • Retail and store all shipment documentation and correspondence on internal system
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation on freight movements
  • Work closely with internal and external customers
  • Focusing on customer service
  • Month end invoicing compliance
  • Assist senior forwarders and Shipping Manager where required
  • Ensure all reports including internal and customer specific are completed
Requirements:
  • Experience in multimodal freight forwarding from within a freight forwarding company
  • Managed or supervised a small freight forwarding team
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Good working knowledge of customs procedures relating to imports and exports
  • Letter of credit knowledge is desirable
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Experience of arranging the full freight cycle shipment/deliveries, invoicing, and all other functions as required
