Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead and optimise our warehouse and logistical operations. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient running of our Glasgow warehouse, as well as managing operations across other UK-based locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Warehouse Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Glasgow warehouse, ensuring efficient processing of orders, timely delivery, and optimal inventory control.
  • Implement Systems and Processes: Implement systems and processes to streamline warehouse activities, improve accuracy, and minimise lead times.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, forecast demand, and coordinate with procurement to ensure stock availability.
  • Multi-location Coordination: Manage operations in additional locations in the UK, ensuring consistency in processes and adherence to company standards.
  • Liaise with Regional Managers: Liaise with regional managers to support operational excellence and resolve logistical challenges.
  • Optimise Transport Routes: Optimise transport routes and delivery schedules between locations to minimise cost and enhance efficiency.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, train, and develop warehouse and logistics teams to drive productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Staffing Levels: Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet fluctuating demand.
  • Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational efficiency across all teams.
  • Supply Chain Optimisation: Work closely with the purchasing and sales teams to align warehouse operations with business objectives.
  • Develop Strategies: Develop strategies to improve supply chain performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Track Key Metrics: Track key operational metrics, analyse performance data, and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations across all locations.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Company Policies: Implement and enforce company policies regarding safe handling of renewable energy products.
  • Budget & Financial Management: Manage operational budgets, ensuring that all activities are cost-effective and within budgetary constraints.
  • Cost Savings: Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements in warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Financial Performance: Report on financial performance and key operational metrics to senior management.
Key Deliverables
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive improvement in processing times, reduce errors, and enhance productivity across all warehouse and logistics functions.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain optimal stock levels, minimise stock discrepancies, and reduce lead times for order fulfilment.
  • Team Development: Build and maintain a high-performing, motivated team capable of meeting business growth and operational targets.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify and implement cost-saving measures within the supply chain and logistics operations.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure on-time and accurate deliveries that meet customer expectations, contributing to an exceptional customer experience.
  • Compliance & Safety: Achieve and maintain compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations across all locations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in an Operations Manager or similar role, ideally within the renewable energy, FMCG, wholesale, or logistics sectors.
  • Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics management, and supply chain optimisation.
  • Multi-location Experience: Experience managing multi-location operations is highly desirable.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of developing and motivating teams.
  • Health & Safety: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, especially in warehouse environments.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
  • Budget Management: Budget management experience and a focus on operational cost-efficiency.
