Job Summary
A Lunchtime Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our pupils during the school day. This includes promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere in the dining areas, supervising pupils, and providing support when needed.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Supervise pupils in designated areas, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Assist with daily decisions on pupil activity spaces, such as wet lunchtimes.
  • Support the safe use of children's play equipment, promoting an enjoyable experience for all.
  • Promote games and activities that motivate pupils during the lunchtime break, while ensuring adherence to school rules and health and safety procedures.
  • Support and supervise pupils in the dining area, encouraging healthy eating habits, helping with food choice, and returning trays.
  • Provide assistance to pupils in other areas who may require it.
  • Handle minor incidents and first aid situations appropriately, referring serious incidents to the Senior Lunchtime Coordinator or Principal.
  • Clean up spillages or debris around the dining/play areas to maintain good order, discipline, and safety.

Requirements:
  • Understanding of the educational, social, and welfare needs of pupils in the midday break.
  • Appreciation of the importance of meals and breaks as social and educational occasions.
  • Experience in supervising pupils (individuals or groups) in a relevant age setting.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to inspire and encourage young people.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Capacity to work effectively with individuals at various levels and responsibilities.
  • Ability to recognize when advice or assistance is required to meet pupils' needs.
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with parents/carers, respecting confidentiality and boundaries.
