Description and Requirements

Skanska Building Services provides comprehensive facilities management services to schools, colleges, and universities in the UK, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering, and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis, leveraging technology to optimize team management.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Multi Skilled Fabric Engineer to join our team on our Essex Schools contract, maintaining four schools in Basildon, Chelmsford, and Canvey Island.

The role involves carrying out predominantly fabric-related works, as well as minor mechanical and electrical services, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and reactive works to meet strict KPIs.

An Enhanced DBS clearance is a mandatory requirement for the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive works in accordance with set engineering standards
  • General duties require multi-skilled disciplines to carry out tasks such as repairs to walls, doors, frames, and associated fixtures, carpentry repairs, painting and decorating, re-lamping luminaires, minor electrical and mechanical maintenance, and L8 testing
  • Inspect and check mechanical services, plant, and systems
  • Perform fault finding and plant adjustments
  • Respond to reactive works as and when required

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds / NVQ / BTEC level or similar in a related discipline
  • Building maintenance experience
  • Multi-skilled capability
  • Good understanding of compliance
  • Forward-thinking, proactive approach
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently with colleagues and clients at all levels
  • Demonstrable client-facing experience
  • A 'can-do' attitude and ability to work independently, vital to this role, along with a desire to deliver first-class engineering and client satisfaction
