Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a highly specialist speech and language therapy service to adults with complex neuro-disability and neuro-rehabilitation needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage complex communication impairments in adults with neuro-disability, including those with brain injury and progressive neurological conditions.
  • Assess and manage complex acquired dysphagia and tracheostomy management.
  • Work with patients in a prolonged disorder of consciousness and provide long-term tracheostomy management and weaning.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing skills.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of speech and language therapy services and policies.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with adults with complex neuro-disability and neuro-rehabilitation needs.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
