Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a supply basis in schools across Goole. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to children with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can access a meaningful and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with various SEN, including autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.
  • Collaborating with the classroom teacher to develop tailored learning strategies, lesson adaptations, and behavior management techniques.
  • Working one-to-one or in small groups with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Providing emotional and social support to students, promoting confidence and positive peer relationships.
  • Assisting with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contributing to individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed, working closely with the teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational setting is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting children's learning and well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across various schools in Goole, often at short notice.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and a passion for working with children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are advantageous but not essential.
