Sewing Machinist

Job Title: Sewing Machinist & Highland Wear Operator

Location: Paisley

About the Role:

A varied position where both hand and machine sewing skills will be utilised in the manufacture of highland wear. The role is based in a modern and friendly factory environment where comprehensive training in highland wear production will be provided if required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operating a variety of sewing machines including lockstitch, bartack, blind hemmer and overlocking machines used in the manufacture of Highland wear.
2. Checking to ensure that all material provided meets the required standard prior to any cutting/processing taking place.
3. The machine sewing will include the sewing of items along with sewing on labels and general hemming of goods and samples.
4. Undertake hand sewing in Highland wear manufacturing as required.
5. Carry out fabric pressing using the Hoffman press or hand pressing at the vacuum pressing station.
6. Halt production as soon as quality or specification problems arise and report these to the Team leader as soon as possible, to ensure minimal rejects.
7. Packing of finished goods as required.
8. Maintain a clean and tidy work area to prevent the soiling of fabric.
9. Assist in the maintenance of a safe working environment through strict adherence to the Company health and safety rules and procedures.
