About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Assistant to join our team at a secondary SEMH school in Bournemouth. As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students facing mental health challenges, helping them navigate their educational journey during Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialised support to students with complex needs related to Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour, ensuring their individual EHCPs are effectively implemented.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging curriculum that addresses the specific challenges associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour across various subjects, including outdoor education.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote social, emotional, and mental well-being, with a focus on addressing anxiety and behaviour challenges.
Requirements
  • A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour.
  • An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
  • A patient and understanding approach, when facing challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset, working in a multidisciplinary team.
