About the Role

Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join their team on a major highway improvement project in Cambridgeshire. As a Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of the project, working closely with the Section Engineer and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Develop and implement temporary works design briefs to meet project requirements.
  • Review designs and identify potential issues, collaborating with the Section Engineer to resolve them.
  • Contribute to the project's 4-week lookahead programme, ensuring timely completion of works.
  • Manage site works, identifying and mitigating potential clashes with other site activities.
  • Understand and apply design specifications and drawings for the project section.
  • Support the delivery of Inspection and Test Plans for the project.
  • Identify and report Non-Conformances, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to a safe working environment.
  • Comply with Environmental policies and procedures, minimizing the project's environmental impact.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field, or HND in Civil Engineering with vocational training in Engineering.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, with a focus on construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Working towards or in possession of a Professional Industry Qualification (IEng, CEng, etc.).
  • Competence with digital tools, including engineering surveying tools.
  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS, SEATS).
  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence, as this role requires frequent travel to project sites.
  • This opportunity requires legal right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with excavation works, including HSG47, CAT & Genny scanning.
  • Concrete works experience, particularly as a site-based engineer.
  • Structural steelwork experience, specifically as a site-based engineer.
