We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Scholar in Asteroseismology to join our research group at Newcastle University. As a Research Associate in Stellar Astrophysics, you will work on the SYMPHONY project, which aims to develop new methods for analyzing large datasets and predicting the behavior of complex astrophysical systems.
Your primary responsibilities will include conducting research along the lines of the programme of the funded project, working successfully in an interdisciplinary research team, and presenting outputs of the research to scientific and non-scientific audiences.
The successful candidate will have a strong research background in calculating numerical stellar structure and evolution models, as well as pulsation models for single and/or binary systems. Experience in related analysis methods relevant to asteroseismology of massive stars is also desirable.
You will be encouraged to pursue independent research and receive mentoring in developing your career. The advertised position is offered on a fixed term basis for two years from its start date, with a possible extension maximally up until the SYMPHONY project end date dependent on available funding.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around £34,500-£36,500 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to your salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, pension contributions, and paid time off.
