We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the National Nuclear Laboratory. This is a unique opportunity to work with a highly skilled and motivated team in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

This position involves providing mechanical engineering support to the Infrastructure Compliance Engineering team, focusing on plant and equipment reliability, configuration management, and other subject matter expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative solutions to meet organisational objectives in a cost-effective manner.
  • Implement and maintain the technical basis of maintenance (TBoM) process, assisting with planning for complex maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are clearly briefed, understood, and performed safely and on schedule to ensure safe operation of the facility.
  • Comply with legislative, regulatory, and company procedures and standards.
  • Assist in producing PMPs and presenting at committee.
  • Support the Mechanical Team Leader in installation, modifications, and commissioning of installed equipment, identifying and delivering plant and process improvements.
Requirements
  • Degree Qualified (Mechanical) or HND in an equivalent discipline.
  • Possibility of becoming a Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Able to achieve Security Clearance (SC), including identity, employment, financial, and criminal records checks, plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
  • Awareness of nuclear, conventional safety, and security requirements applicable to their area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience for operations undertaken within a nuclear plant.
  • Good general safety case awareness with demonstrable knowledge of nuclear safety mechanisms, safety-related equipment, and Safety Features.

Salary Information

Our estimated salary range for this position is between £60,000 and £80,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
