About the Role

Horizon Teachers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Support Assistant to join their team in Greenwich, London.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) and be passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with children who have a wide range of needs such as Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Provide tailored support for children with sensory processing issues, physical disabilities, and complex medical conditions.
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing, creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
  • Foster engagement in learning through creative play, sensory activities, and hands-on educational tasks that inspire curiosity and build essential life skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or adults who have conditions such as Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Sensory Impairments.
  • Confidence, patience, and ability to adapt to different learning styles, providing support to students with complex needs such as Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Specific Learning Difficulties like Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
