Job Summary

Community Transport is seeking a professional and caring individual to join our team as a Casual Passenger Assistant.

As a Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for escorting and assisting passengers to board and alight vehicles safely in their daily journey with us to and from school. You will work with passengers who may have medical or behavioral conditions, providing care, safety, and well-being during the journey.

Main Responsibilities

* Safeguard and promote the welfare of passengers at all times

* Receive and convey passengers from/to their home address or other agreed point, and pass relevant information about the passenger's wellbeing

* Assist passengers with the use of lifts, ramps, and other boarding aids to ensure their comfort and safety

* Maintain safety standards at all times, ensuring doors are properly closed, seatbelts fastened, and wheelchairs are securely fastened before the vehicle moves off

* Manage unexpected incidents, such as vehicle breakdowns, and ensure the safe evacuation of the vehicle and supervision of passengers in the event of an emergency

* Maintain discipline among passengers, prevent distractions to the driver, and report any issues to the head of the establishment and supervisor

* Deal with medical or personal hygiene issues, and work with the driver to keep the vehicle clean and tidy throughout the journey

* Work within the required time frames and as part of a team, taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, and passengers

Essential Skills/Training

* Experience in a similar role as a Passenger Assistant or Escort

* Good understanding of the needs of individuals with varying disabilities

* Commitment to equality and diversity, and understanding of client confidentiality

* Effective communication skills with passengers, carers, relatives, and staff

* Experience working with equipment for wheelchairs and wheelchair passengers
