Livestock Procurement Specialist

As a Livestock Buyer, your role will involve procuring cattle and sheep for the abattoir, building relationships with suppliers, and negotiating purchase prices.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an effective communicator, driven, and well-organised, with the ability to meet strict procurement quotas.

The ideal candidate will have commercial beef/sheep farming experience and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers
  • Cattle grading and quality control
  • Negotiate purchase prices and ensure consistent supply
  • Visit farms and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of livestock
  • Work closely with the procurement team to meet weekly targets

About You:

  • Excellent understanding of beef/sheep production and procurement
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Organised and able to work under pressure
  • Target-driven and results-focused
