Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in one of our excellent Primary Schools in Newcastle.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, working closely with Class Teachers to ensure effective strategies are implemented to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour and SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.
  • Build positive relationships with Class Teachers to discuss and implement strategies and learning activities.
  • Prepare resources for lessons.
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
Requirements
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service).
  • A recognised Childcare-based qualification (although not essential).
  • An ability to build positive relationships and rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students (not essential).
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
