Job Description:

Role Overview

You will be working under the direction of the class teacher/SENCO/SEN Manager to provide support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to enable them to learn effectively. You will be responsible for supervising and providing individualized support to students with SEN, focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, focusing on ASD.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure the holistic development of students.
  • Provide assistance with academic tasks, communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and challenges.
  • Promote independence and self-confidence in students with SEN.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a special education setting, is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has or is willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.
  • Is confident maintaining a positive work environment.
