About the Role:The Financial Control team undertakes and oversees financial control and compliance activities on behalf of the university, working with and supporting colleagues across all Faculties and Services.
The Financial Accounts and Accounts Payable Team undertakes financial accounting activities, including statutory reporting, Tax and VAT compliance and planning, banking and treasury, and accounts payable activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and submit VAT returns and certificates.
- Support the Financial Accountant with aspects of monthly and annual reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on direct and indirect tax related issues.
- Keep up to date with corporation tax, VAT and international tax legislative changes and requirements.
- Develop a tax strategy, involving a review of the tax aspects of the University's overseas activity and operations.
- A good knowledge of VAT and corporation tax matters.
- ATT or CTA qualified.
- Understanding of appropriate legislation, regulations, and code of practice.
