Civil Designer Job Description

NES Fircroft is working with a leading engineering design house in Thornaby to find a skilled Civil Designer for a contract position. The initial contract duration is 12 months, and the role is outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality layouts, general arrangements, and details, as well as 3D models.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Interpret vendor and other discipline drawings to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise draughtspersons as required by the immediate supervisor.
  • Check drawings prepared by others to maintain quality standards.
  • Work efficiently to meet time schedules and budgets.
  • Report to engineers and comply with the company's Quality Management Systems.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Equivalent to a UK Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering as a minimum.
  2. AutoCAD Certificate of Competence (Advanced Level) or relevant experience and qualifications.
Essential Experience:

Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical Industries, specifically in reinforced concrete foundations, sub-structures, aqueous retaining structures, superstructures, and general infrastructure works.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:
  1. Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
  2. Ability to convert calculations or technical communications into engineering drawings.
  3. Ability to read drawings from other engineering disciplines.
  4. Awareness of and compliance with the company's Quality Management System procedures and requirements.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Software Knowledge:
  1. Proficient in AutoCAD and its attributes, as well as Tekla.
  2. Familiarity with CADS RC reinforcement and REVIT & PDMS for modelling and drawing production.
