Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at a lovely Care home located near Kingston-Upon-Thames. As a Second Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining high standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Manage meal preparation and service, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with food and hygiene regulations, conducting regular checks and audits as required.
  • Plan and implement menus, taking into account dietary requirements and nutritional needs.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Monitor stock levels and budgeted ordering, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Assist in deep cleaning of kitchen areas, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Coordinate staff schedules with the Head Chef, ensuring effective team management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 months' experience in a similar supervisory/managerial role.
  • Food & Hygiene Level 2 certification or higher.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Solid experience with COSHH.
  • Extensive knowledge of care home settings and CQC requirements.

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Every other weekend off.
