Job Title: Specialist Midwife for Diabetes Care Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Midwife for Diabetes Care Professional to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care to pregnant women with diabetes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines for pregnant women with diabetes.
  2. Provide expert advice and support to medical and midwifery colleagues on the management of diabetes in pregnancy.
  3. Develop and deliver training programs for the multi-professional team on diabetes care in pregnancy.
  4. Participate in the planning and development of the diabetic services at Medway Maritime NHS Trust.
  5. Collaborate with the Obstetric and Diabetes Lead to ensure seamless care for patients with pre-existing and gestational diabetes.

Requirements:

  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • ENB 928 or similar current diabetes course.
  • Significant experience in the role of diabetes midwife at Band 6 or band 7.
  • Advanced clinical midwifery skills in diabetes.
  • Articulate and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience across the whole spectrum of pregnancy pathway including normal and complex needs, covering both hospital and community-based care.
  • Current knowledge of National guidelines, standards and recommendations impacting on maternity services including NICE Diabetes guideline 2015, Diabetes Strategy for Adults, Super 6 model.
