Welcome to First Bus Engineering, one of the country's largest bus operators. Our engineering teams are working at the forefront of bus technology, investing in state-of-the-art new buses and their maintenance.

We're seeking an experienced Transportation Maintenance Specialist to join our night shift team. As a key member of our depot-based team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our vehicles are safe, reliable, and efficient.

About the Role

  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used.
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
  • Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries.
  • Conduct vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.

Working Pattern: Sunday to Thursday, 21:00 - 05:00 (4 days on 3 days off)

Compensation Package: £20.50 per hour + a £2,000 joining bonus, plus free travel on our buses for you and your family, and other exclusive benefits.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent, with experience on PSV, HGV, van, bus, coach, or car mechanics.
  • Ability to multi-skill within a mechanical engineering environment.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • PCV licence desirable; ability to obtain one essential.
  • Basic vehicle electrical understanding is crucial.
