Job Summary

Botesdale Health Centre is a fantastic opportunity for a professional, conscientious and highly effective practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for assisting in the care of practice patients, providing treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake health assessments, administer medication and treatments, and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Provide and evaluate a range of health interventions to ensure that patients' health and social care needs are met.
  • Administer childhood immunizations and travel vaccinations.
  • Manage patients with long-term health conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug-and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
  • Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication regimes, side effects and interactions.
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.

    About Us

    We are a rural GMS 9900 patient surgery with 4 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs and a fantastic clinical and practice team with an on-site Dispensary. We are located in a modern, recently extended surgery with community nurses located on site as well as an X-ray suite.

    Job Requirements

    • A relevant nursing degree.
    • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
    • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
    • A registered prescriber.
    • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.

    Experience

    Essential

    • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
    • A compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.
    • Knowledge and experience of its application in supporting long-term conditions.
    • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
