Why Rolls-Royce?

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a seasoned MBSE Engineer to join our Novel Nuclear & Special Projects Team. This role will see you spearheading the transformation of our Systems Engineering approach from document-based to Model-Based, building on our existing momentum. We're a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.

Currently, the team is pioneering innovative solutions for deployable nuclear power, including deployable Microreactors for Lunar Surface Power to enable space exploration and habitation, and for terrestrial applications to facilitate the global transition to carbon-free electricity. You will be aligned and supported by Rolls-Royce Submarines business, focused on novel nuclear concepts and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the MBSE strategy across all projects in the Novel Nuclear business
  • Designing and delivering MBSE governance, methodologies, and training, ensuring seamless integration with wider processes and toolsets
  • Providing technical guidance and oversight to engineers working with MBSE to ensure consistency and quality
  • Representing Novel Nuclear Programmes in business-wide MBSE communities to ensure best practices are shared and adopted
  • Identifying and incorporating industry best practices into Novel-Nuclear projects
  • Contributing to the overall strategic leadership of the Systems Engineering and Integration capability group

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Systems engineering (Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Rail, Oil and Gas)
  • Familiarity with ISO 15288 and its application to complex engineering problems.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience in developing and applying methods in real-world engineering solutions, preferably in SysML.
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives, or evidence of an aptitude towards strategic thinking
  • Degree Qualified or Apprentice Trained in a relevant engineering discipline, however, this is not essential

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
