Embark on a dynamic career as a Senior Procurement Strategist at Laing O'Rourke, where you will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of comprehensive procurement and supply chain strategies for the Sizewell C (SZC) project.

SZC is a groundbreaking nuclear power project jointly owned by EDF and the UK Government (HMG). The project aims to design, construct, operate, and decommission a nuclear power plant at Sizewell C in Suffolk, with associated infrastructure supporting hydrogen, direct air capture, and/or desalination technologies.

In this key position, you will work closely with stakeholders including the UK Government, regulators, EDF, financial institutions, and local communities to deliver the project's procurement goals. Your focus will be on driving the development of Procurement Strategies for Project Wide and/or high value packages through the application of Category Management principles.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design and delivery of end-to-end Sourcing strategies aligned with broader Package strategy through application of Project Wide process.
  • Carry out the procurement process for complex packages in accordance with SZC procurement & supply chain management strategy.
  • Provide an ethical and consistent approach to the procurement of high value packages and ensure compliance with the project governance and procurement best practice throughout the process.
  • Contribute to and provide regular reports on procurement and supplier performance.

You will also be responsible for monitoring the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meeting with suppliers to understand their offerings. Additionally, you will need to establish performance-led, long-term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service, and product quality.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A proven track record of working within the construction industry, with demonstrated knowledge of interfaces and relationships.
  • Experience implementing project procurement plans using various contract types.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to manage and lead a team of Buyers/Senior Buyers.
  • A measured approach to decision-making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
