Career Development Specialist

About the Role
Career Connect is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Careers Adviser to join our team in Manchester. As a Careers Adviser, you will play a vital role in supporting 16–18-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) to identify their career ambitions and move into fulfilling training and employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide careers support to young people, helping them to understand their career skills and strengths, overcome personal barriers, and create a better future for themselves.
- Work closely with colleagues in partner organisations to help improve outcomes for young people, involving direct contact with young people, their parents/carers, and a range of professionals from support services, training providers, and employers across the city.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with young people, their families, and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of careers support services, including workshops, group sessions, and one-to-one support.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of careers support services, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of new initiatives.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with young people, their families, and professionals.
- Effective time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to travel independently and work flexibly in venues across Manchester.
- Knowledge of the careers sector and the needs of young people, particularly those who are NEET.
- Experience of working with young people, particularly those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged.

- A competitive salary of £26,485 – £30,012 per annum, depending on experience.
