About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Placement Student - Product Design Engineer to join our team in Darlington. As a Placement Student, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product design engineering and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

As a Placement Student, you will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with cross-functional teams to understand project processes and requirements.
  • Ownership of a project, taking a component from concept through to development and production.
  • Collaborating with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, to understand associated project costs and requirements.
  • Arranging testing for prototype parts and understanding requirements for each test.
  • Completing validation and verification tests for components.
  • Analysing and reporting test results, providing communication updates across teams and participating in design reviews.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in a STEM-related field, with a good understanding of product design engineering principles.
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills, with a good level of competency using Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new situations, with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Creo Cad software, Ansys, or similar software, solidworks, PowerPoint, and Microsoft package.
