Job Title: Coded Welders

A&P Tyne is seeking skilled welders with current certifications to join our fabrication team. As a coded welder, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding work on various projects, interpreting fabrication drawings, and working closely with inspectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-quality welding work on various projects
  • Interpret fabrication drawings, weld procedure documentation, and weld inspection procedures
  • Check that drawing details on weld procedures and preparations match and are right for the job
  • Ensure welding equipment has a current validation certificate and meets requirements
  • Use, store, and protect the right consumables to specification (WPS)
  • Perform any weld tests needed and maintain competency through courses
  • Dress welds to meet standards
  • Support training apprentices and new colleagues
Requirements:
  • A time-served apprenticeship or completion of a recognized training program
  • Current welding certifications and experience in coded welding
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Problem-solving, communication, and team-working skills
  • Qualification standard – BS EN ISO 9606
  • Material – Carbon steel (S355 and above)
  • Consumable – FM1 or FM2, Gas – M26
  • Coverage required – FCAW (136) – Butt welds - >3mm (12mm test plate minimum required). Two positions required, vertical (PF) and overhead (PE/PA) to give full positional coverage
  • FCAW (136) – Fillet weld – Qualified via supplementary fillet weld test carried out alongside the above butt weld. PB (down hand) position. Single run fillet test required if done as supplementary test
