About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to our patients and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care and effective management of patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including the design and implementation of new initiatives and the evaluation of existing ones.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, providing guidance and mentorship to help them develop their skills and expertise.
  • Participate in research and audit activities, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and practice in older adult psychiatry.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry, with a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry or equivalent.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval, or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Excellent clinical skills, with a strong understanding of bio-psychosocial perspectives and wider medical knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of teaching, research, and audit, with a strong commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
