Role Overview

As a Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer at Jacobs, you will be part of our specialist teams working on complex structural engineering problems for the nuclear industry. Our teams are responsible for designing and delivering challenging Defence projects to major clients in the UK and overseas. You will be working on projects that involve consideration of dynamic load effects due to extreme hazards, including seismic, blast, and impact. We use rigorous analysis models that are validated through independent third-party review and ultimately to the nuclear safety Regulators.

About the Role

As a Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for working on complex structural engineering problems, including consideration of dynamic load effects due to extreme hazards. You will be part of a team that uses rigorous analysis models to design and deliver challenging Defence projects to major clients in the UK and overseas. You will be working on projects that involve consideration of seismic, blast, and impact hazards. We use a range of methodologies to understand structural response and failure mechanisms, including ductility, nonlinear buckling, and soil structure interaction. We work to the highest standards, with everything we do being fully evidenced and justified through independent third-party review and ultimately to the nuclear safety Regulators.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be working towards a relevant Degree or Masters level qualification in civil/structural engineering. You will also need to be a flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward. You must have the permanent right to work in the UK. We are looking for adaptable individuals who are keen to learn new things and work in a fast-paced environment. You will need to be able to work to the highest standards, with everything you do being fully evidenced and justified through independent third-party review and ultimately to the nuclear safety Regulators. Selection Process

The selection process for this role will involve a solo video assessment, followed by an interview. We are looking for individuals who are able to demonstrate their skills and experience in a clear and concise manner. You will need to be able to show how you have applied your knowledge and skills in a real-world setting, and how you have contributed to the success of your previous employers.
