Assistant Manager - Infrastructure and Government Strategic Advisory Services

Base Location: London, Manchester, and Birmingham, with a network of 20 offices across the UK.

KPMG's Infrastructure and Government Strategic Advisory Services team is seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager. Our team supports government and infrastructure clients with their most complex challenges, developing strategies for the implementation of government policy and designing operating models that underpin public services.

We work on fascinating projects, structuring holistic supplier relationships that create and maintain physical and digital asset systems. Our advice can be categorized into policy, regulation, and service model design, business operating model design and implementation, and procurement and commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to client workstreams, supporting business development, and helping our team to grow and develop.
  • Develop solutions to problems and collaborate with more senior colleagues and clients.
  • Generate hypotheses and contribute to storyboarding to help solve complex problems.
  • Take ownership of small workstreams within engagements and contribute to larger workstreams.
  • Produce client-ready deliverables.
  • Liaise effectively with clients and act as an ambassador for KPMG.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Provide timely feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Build and maintain a strong internal and external network.
  • Contribute to business development opportunities by helping with proposal generation and bid documentation.

Requirements:

  • Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Structured thinking skills combined with creativity.
  • Ability to review and assess technical data and distil key strategic insights.
  • Ability to evaluate complex problems and support delivery of insightful recommendations.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in working on critical public sector issues and infrastructure delivery.
  • Experience of working with or researching a range of stakeholders/clients and having an emerging understanding of the issues facing the infrastructure sector.

Desirable Skills:

  • A passion for learning and maintaining knowledge of trends in the latest thinking related to client operational and/or supplier delivery models.
  • Professional qualification (or working towards one) such as MCIPS, MRICS, or relevant postgraduate degrees.

Our Locations:

We are open to discussing this role with major projects advisory talent across the UK, but our core hubs are London Canary Wharf, Manchester, and Birmingham. With 20 sites across the UK, we can facilitate office work, working from home, flexible hours, and part-time options.
