Process Safety Engineer Opportunity

Acorn by Synergie, a leading recruitment agency, is currently partnering with a prominent client in Swansea to find a Process Safety Engineer for a permanent role. This position is based at the Mond Nickel Refinery, a world-renowned Nickel refinery, owned and operated by Vale Europe.

The Process Safety Engineer serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority for the refinery on matters related to process safety management and associated risks.

This role involves supporting production and processing improvements through risk identification and management using recognized industrial practices, adhering to required regulations, standards, and guidelines.

The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for identifying problems, issues, and concerns to eliminate risks by inspecting facilities, reviewing engineering and machinery processes, and identifying potential risks to ensure safety regulation compliance.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will have experience in Process Safety at COMAH Sites, preferably Upper Tier, and be skilled in facilitating PHA processes such as HAZOP, BOW-TIE, HAZ-ID, LOPA. Knowledge and experience in Functional Safety and DSEAR are also essential.

The ideal candidate will be detail-focused, able to understand complex process plants, and possess excellent communication skills. Additionally, they should be able to work independently to ensure the success of their team.

It is essential that the candidate has experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries, and is IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
