As a Control Systems Engineer with Institute of the Motor Industry. limited, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining real-time control software for electric vehicles. Your expertise in software creation, modification, and validation will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head of Whole Vehicle and Head of T+D software to develop software that meets the latest legislative, functional safety, cost, and performance standards.
- Design and implement software strategies for production vehicles, ensuring they are suitable for use in high-voltage powertrains.
- Provide support for in-vehicle testing, powertrain testing, and calibration to ensure the software performs as expected.
- Verify and validate control software using Model-In-The-Loop (MIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) testing.
- Develop clear and concise documentation for software modifications and updates.
- Contribute to the improvement of software reliability, efficiency, and driving refinement.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in auto-coding with the MathWorks toolchain: Simulink, Stateflow, and Embedded Coder.
- Working knowledge of C or C++ programming languages, especially for embedded applications.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- Familiarity with HIL systems and automotive serial communications protocols (CAN, Flexray).
- Knowledge of automotive calibration software (Etas INCA, Vector CANape).
- Demonstrable expertise in low-voltage system design in automotive applications.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage component design and construction.
- Experience with automotive standards and communication protocols.
- High standards for documentation and organisation.
