Job Title: Vehicle & Plant Technician

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle & Plant Technician to join our team on an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out repair and maintenance on various types of fleet vehicles, working in a council workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake a wide range of tasks in the vehicle workshop, requiring specific knowledge and skills.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and services to vehicles and equipment to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Conduct safety and maintenance inspections of vehicles and equipment operated by contractors to the Council.
  • Complete accurately all other appropriate and required records, including timesheets and driving hours.
  • Identify, locate, order, and collect parts as necessary to ensure works are undertaken within agreed timescales.
  • Understand the Health and Safety risks identified for the Vehicle Workshop environment and ensure that all mitigating procedures and practices are implemented.
  • Keep the nominated work area free from hazards and in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Use and operate all equipment in the workshop in an appropriate manner.
Requirements:
  • Must have Level 3 City & Guilds in Vehicle Technician.
  • Hold a full, clean car Driving Licence and Motorcycle Driving Licence (150cc minimum).
  • Hold an appropriate PCV DD restricted (minimum) and/or HGV Class 2 (minimum) driving licence.
  • Qualified to be an experienced MOT vehicle examiner.
  • Demonstrate at least two years' experience in undertaking routine, multiskilled, working on cars, light vans, and heavy vehicles.
