We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Team Lead to join our team at the Quadram Institute.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and cultivating a specialized bioinformatics core support team, providing exceptional leadership for planning and developing bioinformatics analyses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Crafting sequence analysis pipelines for bacterial genomic, metagenomic, and transcriptomic datasets.
  • Oversight of sequencing outputs from platforms like Illumina, PacBio, and Oxford Nanopore.
  • Guiding the development of customized analysis pipelines, coaching, training, and effective communication skills.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Computing Science or a related field, along with extensive computational expertise in UNIX, Illumina, and other bioinformatics programs.

Proficiency in cloud computing and specialized knowledge of molecular biology related to sequence generation are imperative.

Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to lead and swiftly establish productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, are paramount for this position.
