Laboratory Associate

Job Summary
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Laboratory Medicine department as a Laboratory Associate. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the departments of Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, and Pre-analytics. They will support diagnostic testing and ensure compliance with established protocols and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the receipt and processing of samples following established procedures.
- Support the maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment.
- Enter patient data into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Perform basic laboratory tests under the supervision of a registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS).
Requirements:
- Previous experience in laboratory work is essential.
- A level or equivalent in at least two from Maths, English, and Science at level A to C is required.
- Knowledge of laboratory processes and the ability to handle a range of biological samples are essential.
- Able to maintain a personal portfolio that demonstrates competence in theoretical knowledge and practical skills and compliance with Statutory and Mandatory training.
About the Role:
This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility to work late shifts, night shifts, and weekends. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
