Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join our team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our Comprehensive Stroke Service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our stroke service.

About the Role

This is a 10 PA post in the Comprehensive Stroke Service, and we are looking for someone comprehensively trained in stroke medicine. The calibre of the applicant is more important than their base specialty, and we are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on a clinical leadership role within the department, with appropriate skills, support, and training. Our Stroke Unit has been consistently highly rated on the SSNAP audit and has won awards for its clinical leadership and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-patient and out-patient care for patients referred with suspected stroke or TIA
  • Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis and other specialist treatments
  • Take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
  • Participate in clinical and other service activities, such as medical and service audit, to ensure a high standard of patient care
  • Contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development
