Job Title: Academy Educator

Are you a highly skilled and motivated registered Practitioner looking for a challenging role that combines education, training, and leadership? We have an exciting opportunity for an Academy Educator to join our team at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will support and deliver initial and ongoing education, training, and CPD within the department to specialist teams. They will work with staff to identify learning needs and support opportunities and training to meet those needs, including Trust statutory and mandatory training compliance and clinical competency assessment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs for theatre practitioners.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and maintain registers of training as appropriate.
  • Support departmental sisters/charge nurses to ensure mandatory training is compliant with Trust standards.
  • Contribute to corporate training and education.
  • Develop competency-based clinical skills education and relevant competency assessment documents.
  • Maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment.
  • Contribute to and complete performance review of theatre personnel.
  • Abide by Trust policies when dealing with complaints, accidents, and incidents.
  • Maintain discipline within the clinical area.
  • Participate and chair interviewing panels in the appointment of staff.
  • Implement evaluation audits to measure the impact of educational programs.
Person Specification
  • Understanding/experience of adult/child safeguarding.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current relevant NHS policy or project-specific policy context.
  • Evidence of developing and leading programs of education and/or training.
  • Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills, including effective report writing.
  • Current NMC Registration.
  • Meets NMC requirements for mentorship if relevant to role.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional, personal, and academic development.
