About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Policy Specialist to join our team as a Programme Manager - Zero Carbon. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of policies and programmes to support the Mayor's ambition to make London a zero carbon city by 2030.

The role will involve working closely with stakeholders to identify and develop solutions to decarbonise London's buildings, increasing organisations' skills and understanding of decarbonisation, and developing decarbonisation projects to be ready for funding.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental policy and programme management, with experience of working on high-profile projects and programmes. They will be able to build new and maintain existing partnerships, establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders, and provide advice and guidance to the Mayor and his staff.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team working across the three programmes, and will lead on programme delivery, management and stakeholder engagement. They will be able to work flexibly across these different policy areas in response to priorities and needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the development and implementation of policies and programmes to support the Mayor's ambition to make London a zero carbon city by 2030.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and develop solutions to decarbonise London's buildings.
  • Develop and implement decarbonisation projects to be ready for funding.
  • Build new and maintain existing partnerships to support the delivery of initiatives to implement the Mayor's policies and programmes.
  • Establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders, including international organisations, Government departments, the London Boroughs, functional bodies and other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Mayor and his staff on environmental and energy matters.
