Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Surveyor to join our team at the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. As a key member of our property management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our properties, including historic and listed buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Property Condition Surveys: Conduct thorough surveys of our properties to identify any defects or maintenance issues.
  • Building Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure our properties are well-maintained and meet the required standards.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of maintenance services.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM and asbestos management.
  • Building Regulations: Ensure our properties comply with building regulations and provide advice on any necessary modifications.
  • Property Lettings: Assist with the management of property lettings, rentals, and service charges.
  • Boundary and Property Issues: Deal with boundary and other property issues, including party wall matters.
  • Acquisition and Disposal: Assist with the acquisition and disposal of properties.
  • Insurance and Claims: Liaise with insurers and loss adjustors in relation to buildings insurance claims and related building works.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications: A relevant degree or equivalent experience working within the property profession.
  • Experience: Experience of undertaking building condition surveys, working with historic and listed buildings, and building pathology.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Extensive knowledge and experience in building pathology, health and safety legislation, building regulations, and IT skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills, with a willingness to work flexible hours and travel throughout the Diocese.
